What is the Egypt eVisa?

An Egyptian electronic visa or Egypt eVisa is a legal travel authorization granted to citizens of eligible foreign nations. International travelers from these eligible countries can obtain the visa by applying online and providing the required information. They can also make payments through credit or debit cards. The validity of the visa is three months. However, the maximum duration of permitted stay for foreign nationals holding this visa is 30 days.

Single Entry

As the name suggests, a single-enter visa only allows a foreigner to cross Egyptian borders once. If they happen to leave the country within 30 days of permitted stay and want to return, they have to apply for a new Egyptian eVisa.

Multiple Entry

On the other hand, foreign travelers arriving on multiple-entry eVisa can leave and return to Egypt as many times as they wish during the six-month validity period and can stay up to 30 days each time.

Starting in December 2017, travelers are allowed access to Egypt’s electronic visas. For this reason, an Egyptian visa for most visitors has never been easier to get.

They are no longer required to get their documentation from Egypt’s embassy. Now, visitors can apply online at the government site or Natvisa and receive their visa by email. It is quick, reliable, and affordable.

Details Needed for eVisa Application

To get started with the visa application for Egypt, there are a few things travelers will need to provide. They should have no issue getting everything they need as the requirements are easy to meet.

Ordinary Passport Needed

The Egypt electronic visa system permits applicants to use an Ordinary Passport only (Travel documents, diplomatic passports, maritime passports, or Convention of July are not valid for the e-Visa).

No Work Allowed During the Stay

The Egypt e-Visa is valid for tourism only. Absolutely no work or study is permitted. A different visa category will be needed to perform work or to study in Egypt.

Passport Validity Upon Entry to Egypt

A passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon entry into Egypt. Officials in Egypt will most likely stamp the passport. At least 2 blank pages are recommended.

Proof of Onward Travel

The Egyptian eVisa does not usually require proof of onward journey. However, it is recommended to have a return or onward flight ticket. Immigration officers may ask to see the ticket to make sure the traveler plans to leave Egypt within the allowed time.

This typically includes the full name and address of the hotel or place of residence, contact details, and the duration of the stay at that particular address.

Natvisa has streamlined the host section, so there is no need to worry if the details aren’t handy

eVisa for Minors

Extending the eVisa

International travelers who wish to stay in Egypt for more than 30 days of the permitted duration have to renew their electronic tourist visas.

Earlier tourists from a few countries could extend their stay for a 14-day grace period and pay a fine at the immigration counter while leaving. This no longer exists officially. Travelers who wish to extend their visa validity have to renew their visa. They can visit the Mogamma office and apply for an extension/renewal.

Foreign tourists can also leave the country within the permitted period of stay and re-apply for an eVisa online.
