Most international travelers who wish to enter Kuwait have to apply for a visa. Only citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are exempt from this rule. Therefore, if you are a traveler from GCC nations such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, you do not need a visa according to the Kuwait visa policy. If this is the case, then you can provide a valid GCC card at the airport to enter Kuwait.
As we do not belong to any of the GCC nations, we were eligible to apply for the Kuwait eVisa.
At present, citizens of foreign countries, including the US, UK, Italy, Spain, Canada, and Cambodia, can apply for a Kuwait eVisa (electronic travel authorization). In our experience, the process is simple and can be completed within a few minutes if you have gathered all the required information and documents.
If you are not familiar with online visa applications, you may find it a little bit frustrating. Below is our step-by-step guide to the Kuwait eVisa application form:
The online application process for the Kuwaiti eVisa is relatively easy. However, we believe being prepared always helps. You should ensure that you have very good internet connectivity. You must also be careful to share correct data in the application form. Mistakes, including spelling errors, can result in the rejection of your application.
If you are an applicant for the Kuwaiti eVisa, you must gather all the required information and documents. You will have to upload copies of your passport, photographs, and other documents in particular formats and sizes. After this, you have to log into the official eVisa application website of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interiors. Just before you start the application process, you have to verify if you are eligible for the eVisa for Kuwait. The site has a list of countries that are eligible for this electronic visa. They are as follows:
On the very first page of the application form, we had to declare if we were citizens of the GCC. Please note that if you are a traveler from GCC nations, you do not need a visa to enter Kuwait. You can travel to Kuwait with a valid GCC card and passport. On the other hand, if you are a member of GCC nations, you need to submit your passport details, including the issuing country, passport number, passport type (ordinary, official, or diplomat), and nationality.
Moreover, if you are a citizen of another eVisa-eligible country, you are required to submit information about your identity, nationality, and passport.
On the second page of the application form, we had to share information about our passports. You will be required to fill out the following fields:
Passport Nationality: This is nothing but the name of the country that issued your passport. This data identifies you as a subject of a particular nation. This will come in handy in case of an emergency.
Passport Type: Passports are generally categorized into four types: ordinary, official, diplomatic, and service. In this field, you must enter the type of your passport. We had chosen the "ordinary" passport option.
Your Passport Number: This is the unique number shown on the information page of your passport. Make sure you enter the correct number. You are required to enter this number again. If there is a mismatch, your application form cannot be completed.
Passport Issuing Country: The country that issued your passport. This data must match the information given in your passport.
Date of Issue: The date on which your document was issued.
Date of Expiry: The date from which your passport will be invalid
Details of Previous Visits: On this page, you are required to share the details of your previous visits to Kuwait. If you have visited the country already, you have to share information, including the dates of your entry and exit.
Additionally, you must also agree to the terms and conditions on this page. Finally, you are asked to enter the CAPTCHA.
Disclaimer: On the next page, you are required to agree with a disclaimer. If you move forward without agreeing to the disclaimer, your service request will not be processed.
After filling in the above section, we could proceed to the next segment of the Kuwait eVisa application form.
If you are applying for an eVisa for Kuwait, you should submit information about your identity and nationality. We have listed the fields that you need to fill in this section:
Previous Nationality: You should mention if you have ever held any other nationality before the current one. You must also share the date on which you changed your nationality to the new one. This was not applicable to us, so we could easily move to the next section.
Date of Birth: Here, you have to enter the date on which you are born. This will typically have the date, month, and year in which you were born. The information must match that in your passport.
Place of Birth: The place where you were born, as given in your passport.
First Name: Your given name as appearing in your passport.
Second Name: Your middle name.
The Third/Family Name: Your last name as appearing in your passport.
Gender: Your gender as marked in your passport.
Marital Status: State if you are married, single, or widowed.
Educational Qualification: Your educational qualification as appearing in your passport.
You can share these details in Arabic too. The website has a provision for that. It is not mandatory. However, it may help speed up the eVisa verification. On this page, you are required to declare if you had visited Kuwait with another passport wearing a different number.
Expected Address in Kuwait: You need to share the address at which you are planning to stay. You need to give the area, type of accommodation, street number, avenue number, and building number.
The Contact Details: Next, you must type in your phone number (both in your home country and in Kuwait) and your email address. The email address will have your name and the service provider.
We moved to the next section, after filling out the above fields of the eVisa application form for Kuwait.
On the next page, you are required to upload soft copies of your documents: They are as follows:
We could successfully load the above-mentioned documents on the Kunwait electronic visa application form.
After uploading the documents, you should share your credit card number. The government of Kuwait says that the credit number will be used only for verification purposes. Following this, you must verify the data that you have already entered. Note that errors can result in your visa getting rejected. You can click on the previous button to do so. Once verified, you can click the next button to save the info.
The eVisa will be sent to your registered email address. The website also gives a reference number that you can use for checking the application status. Note that the eVisa will be delivered to your registered email address within a few days of completing the online application. You must take a printout of the eVisa and show it at the immigration counter at the port of entry. In our case, we received our eVisa for Kuwait within a week in our email.
Applying for a Kuwait eVisa can be a smooth experience, provided you have reliable internet connectivity, and you follow the instructions outlined on the website.
However, technical issues may arise during the application process, such as slow loading times, difficulty uploading documents, or errors in the online form. To minimize disruptions, you should ensure your browsers are up to date, clear your cache, and avoid peak hours for server traffic. Following are some of the issues that you can face during your Kuwaiti eVisa application process.
During the application process, if you are an applicant for a Kuwait eVisa, you are asked to share your home address. Thereon, you are required to select the area and governorate of your residence from the drop-down list. You are instructed to select the name from the ’Drop-Down List Only.’ However, many applicants have faced issues as the drop-down list is not populated when they click on the given fields.
Solution: In our opinion, you must clear your cache before starting your eVisa application for Kuwait. You need to disable the adblocker software on your system. Such software may block the drop-down lists. You can also try to type in the area name, and this may populate the drop-down list. You can also switch the browser. If nothing works, you can seek help from an online visa application service expert.
While filling out the Kuwaiti eVisa application form, we followed the above-mentioned steps and could easily obtain one.
Many eVisa applicants are confused about their local phone numbers. A local Kuwaiti Phone number is a mandatory requirement for eVisa application. You can share the phone of your hotel’s or resort’s contact number. Many applicants have complained that the visa application portal is not accepting phone numbers.
Solution: It is important to note that you have to add the code number ’00965’ before the phone number. This is the country calling code assigned to Kuwait by the International Telecommunication Union. Our advice is to share the accommodation details while applying for a Kuwait eVisa. Erroneous information on your part will result in visa rejection.
Errors and spelling mistakes in the information shared during the online visa application can result in a visa denial. Hence, you are required to verify the information shared. You have to click on the ’previous’ button at the bottom left of the visa application window to visit the previous page. We, too, faced problems during this final verification as the pages got stuck.
Solution: Ensuring good internet connectivity can help. Also, you need to ’tick’ the rules and regulation checkbox on the first page and enter a new captcha every time you visit previous pages.
